I read the entry of D. Wallace Peach on her blog. You can go and read it. It inspired me to participate. https://mythsofthemirror.com/2017/10/31/halloweensie-writing/
The Witch’s Bane
Annabelle dumps the contents of her pillowcase onto the floor creating a mountain of sweets. That’s when she hears a lamenting voice.
“That gnarrrly monsterrr broke my brrroom, made me crrrash dive into this pillowcase. On my special night … what a disasterrr.”
A snicker bar and a package of corn candy slither from the top. Annabelle watches frozen as a tiny witch emerges from her sweet mountain. The lights flicker and dim. The shadows deepen and stretch.
“Don’t look so frrrazzled,” she said. “Help me up.”
Annabelle screams. “Mom! Mom!”
“Child! Child! Don’t go crrrazy on me? I’m your frrriend.”
